Frederick the Great was the Prussian king of the 17th century .
He was known for his military speed and ability to draw out wars quickly.
While he was good at war, he didn't like it.
He'd rather be at the summer home he'd built in Potsdam , which he'd given the French name of Saint Sousi .
Frederick exaggerated enemy numbers at Mulvitz , for instance, claiming that the Austrians had a much larger force than they did and casting his flight from the battlefield as a daring escape.
He wrote his first book on military theory, primarily to distribute to his generals.
He also drilled his troops because Frederick wanted to be ready for the next war.
But for all of his supposed genius, he badly bungled his diplomacy.
