Analysis-New Zealand's economic missteps hasten exodus to sunnier shores

The rush to leave comes amid the worst economic downturn since 1991 outside of the pandemic.
Unemployment is at a more than four-year high while the number in work saw the largest annual decline since 2009 .
New Zealand's economy was the worst performing in the developed world last year , according to HSBC .
Lellimo and Ngaru plan to return to New Zealand one day when they are more financially secure. But for now, New Zealanders are voting with their feet.
