Here's what's in Edmonton's draft deal with province for OEG event park and private development

73% Informative
Alberta government, City of Edmonton , and Oilers Entertainment Group have reached a tentative deal.
The deal includes a $250-million “event park” that would be owned by the city.
The park would be on the current site of the OEG’s named “Fan Park ” just east of Rogers Place .
It would be a space for events with 2,500 people, installing retractable canopies outdoors to allow activities to continue year-round.
The total spend for the province, municipality and OEG is estimated $408.2 million .
Alberta is setting aside $16.4 million over three years for “site servicing” at the Village at Ice District .
$33.8 million would come from the CRL and $3 million from OEG.
OEG has long planned its private commercial and housing development just north of the arena with an estimated 2,500 units.
Mayor Sohi said public financing would benefit public spaces.
“If Edmontonians think that this deal doesn’t make sense, we will hear that concern from them,” he said.
