The Associated Press was denied access to the press pool at Mar a Lago , where conservative outlets Real America's Voice and The Daily Wire are taking their place.

New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker says the move is a chilling effect on the press.

Baker : What is happening with this White House is not only disturbing, it is catastrophic because of the first draft of history.

Peter Bergen says the fear factor is what feels most striking to him in Russia .

Bergen: People who used to speak out about Trump Democrats as well as Never Trump Republicans don't want to be quoted anymore.

He says the president has made the press a part of the story, and so my question to you is who then the press appeals to?.

Peter Baker : Why are your colleagues being barred? Why is everybody want the bus? What is going on with all of the White House reporters? Baker : It's not an easy question because if you don't do what, if you take some sort of action like a boycott, you have to do it collectively.

Baker : Getting all press people to do the same thing like herding cats is easier.
