The French came up with some crazy designs, some that feature double trouble.
This is the incredible tale of the French Le Duke Zero 22 .
Powered by a new engine type unfathomable to the world, it has unlimited speed and with two anti air guided missiles and up to 40 rockets, it's the perfect Soviet bomber interceptor.
Leduc founded his own company with a goal to build a functioning high speed ramjet fighter plane.
The Zero 10 was able to take off and land on its own thanks to the addition of a secondary turbojet engine.
Prototype Zero 21 got its pixel glass cockpit, allowing the pilot to see out of the window or around him and give him unparalleled use.
But then disaster struck when the engine caught fire and the entire fuselage was melted and destroyed.
Renee Leduc had hoped to win the design contest but was stopped by the competition.
The plane would have been much lighter and more manoeuvrable than any other design.
With the fighter jets scrapped, Leduc moved on to hydraulics, developing pumps for excavators.
