The Musqueam Indian Band has signed an agreement to share lease revenue paid to Ottawa by the Vancouver International Airport .
The airport operates under a long-term ground lease with the federal government that is paid by the airport authority based on a portion of its revenue.
In recent years , Ottawa had been turning over one per cent of the lease payment to the band.
“This marks a serious milestone in our journey together,” says the minister of Crown-Indigenous relations.
