Jaysley Beck: Army's handling of teen soldier's sexual assault complaint 'played part in her death', coroner says

Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck , 19 , was found dead in her room at Larkhill Camp in Wiltshire .

She had made a complaint against senior colleague Michael Webber , then 39 , who she claimed had grabbed her leg and tried to kiss her after a drinking game called Last Man Standing .

Mr Webber was later promoted to Warrant Officer Class 1, the most senior non-commissioned soldier rank in the British Army .

Salisbury Coroners' Court heard how Gunner Beck had received thousands of messages from her line manager Ryan Mason , who was a bombardier, in months leading up to her death.

Brigadier Melissa Emmett : "We let her down in so many ways for which we have already apologised" Former sergeant who has since left the Army declined to answer questions about his relationship with Gunner Beck .

He said: "I have found personally very grieving. We could have, and we should have, done more".
