New Haven mayor testifies in support of funding programs to help Connecticut's homeless population

New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker testified before the Connecticut General Assembly’s Housing Committee on Thursday .
The legislation calls for the Connecticut Department of Housing to receive a $33.5 million appropriation in Fiscal Year 2026 to enhance assistance and expand programs supporting those who experience homelessness.
New Haven Community Services Administrator Eliza Halsey also provided testimony before the Housing Committee .
