Lawmakers expect tough questions over Trump’s vision in Europe

The annual security conference takes place in Munich , Germany , on Friday .

Last year's trip came just after the Senate overcame isolationist Republicans to approve $60 billion in new funds for Ukraine .

But so much changed in the 10 months since they passed the security package including Ukraine aid, they all knew ahead of Munich that it’s harder to guarantee the U.S. backing.

Traditional Republicans fear of getting politically crosswise with Trump and the GOP primary voters he controls.
