Anthony Gismondi: Upcoming Vancouver wine festival spotlights U.S. West Coast offerings

The 46th Vancouver International Wine Festival will host 125 wineries worldwide this week .
This year ’s theme has caused some angst as the festival spotlights U.S West Coast producers from California , Oregon , and Washington .
In 2025 , the festival has attracted 15 countries that will be pouring wine inside the international tasting room beginning Feb. 26 .
Meyer Chardonnay 2023 , a blend from Okanagan vineyards, offers exceptional value.
Terravista Proyecto Terruño Sparkling Albariño 2024 is one of many “made in Canada from imported ingredients” wines set to appear in B.C. this year .
Nathalie Bonhomme is hand harvested, followed by cold maceration and a two-week fermentation in stainless steel vats.
In 2024 , the total number of wineries in the three West Coast states declined, as did winery growth in states such as Virginia , Michigan , and Georgia .
