48 million people have taken on the role of becoming a caregiver to a family member with little to no financial help, according to Susan Reinhard , formerly the senior vice president of AARP ’s Public Policy Institute and chief strategist for the organization.

An AARP report highlighted that 60% of family caregivers are in addition to being 40% of caregivers; 40% are men, but at 60% are women.

Jordan Lewis , 80 , was diagnosed with Alzheimer's nearly 10 years ago .
