Don’t Expect Republicans to Stop Trump’s Constitutional Chaos
68% Informative
GOP lawmakers warned President Donald Trump against defying the judicial branch.
But they should have been condemning him for already doing just that.
Trump hasn't even been back in office a month yet, and he’s doubling down on the lawlessness of his first term.
Some of his closest allies are openly calling on him to do the opposite: Vice President JD Vance , the richest man on the planet, has called for impeachment.
But the crisis is already here, with Republican Congressman Chip Roy encouraging Trump to “take a page out of Andrew Jackson ’s playbook” and call the courts’ bluffs: “ JD Vance is right,” Roy told Laura Ingraham recently. Maybe not every Republican agrees. But in this time of cynicism and capitulation, will any with the power to stop him say so and stand by it?.
