SpaceX, four other firms nab $47.7 million in Texas Space Commission grants

The Texas space commission has awarded $47.7 million to five Texas companies.
The latest round of grants is the second round of funding for the state's space commission.
SpaceX, Intuitive Machines , Starlab Space and Firefly Aerospace are among the companies receiving the money.
Some of the companies have direct connections to the commission.
Nearly $20 million will go to El Paso economic development group the Borderplex Alliance for a U.S. Space Force facility.
Since September , the commission has received 284 grant requests from 140 entities seeking $3.46 billion .
The commission expects to approve more grant requests at its March meeting.
