The F150 Lightning is Ford 's most popular vehicle in the U.S. and has maintained that title for 40 years .

Ford aims to convert around half of their vehicle sales to electric by the end of this decade .

The new electric F-150 Lightning was designed by Linda Zangang , chief engineer Linda Van Dyke , which is great for an electric car that has the word Ford on it.

The electric F-150 will be a completely different beast. Much easier to drive and faster than the current Raptor edition with a twin turbocharged V6 engine.

The front trunk is going to be ideal for storing tool boxes or groceries, but it's just as versatile as the rear space with a seamless, watertight design and drain plug in the bottom.

The electric F-150 will be available for around 55 grand at the low end and you can add just about any option you like to pimp it up a bit.

The Pro version and the XLT versions will start shipping in spring of 2022 .

The higher end trims will come later in 2022 , the Lariat and Platinum .
