82 Airborne on D-Day 6th June 1944: Saint Marcouf Then and Now
69% Informative
D-Day photos were taken of men from the O 8 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne.
They show the regimental S4 section, so supply basically, you know, logistics, etcetera. And there's also one image as well, taken a few miles down the road in a village called Raven Oval .
The village of Saint Marcouth is a key part of the story because of the images that were taken here.
World War 2 Wayfinder photos of the men for 508 taken by the 508 in Samarku .
We can see the men here exactly now after the war, the you can see in the wartime image that this wall along here suffered quite a bit of damage.
The next two images are never covered and they're favourites of mine just because they've got the locals from the village here.
And I'm always really curious to know what was going through their minds, the conversations they tried to have with the American paratroopers.
