61% Informative
Marco Correas suffered cardiac arrest during practice on Nov. 7 .
MacEwan Griffins athletic training staff administered CPR and an AED to restart his heart.
The 24-year-old from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , Spain , spent 17 days in hospital, and is now healthy enough the past few weeks to attend home games and cheer on his teammates.
Correas said he's making sure he’s focused on his new perspective on life.
“ Coach is like a second father figure for me, and my teammates are like my brothers. They’ve been amazing support through all of this,” he said.
His mother flew to Edmonton and spent nearly a month with her son after the incident.
