Plans for Chinese mega-embassy are threat to national security, warns Robert Jenrick

China bought the site for more than 255 million in 2018 but plans for the super-embassy were previously rejected by Tower Hamlets borough council.

A Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government spokesman said: “Applications for a new Chinese embassy in Tower Hamlets have been called in for ministers to decide. “A final decision will be made in due course.” The embassy was contacted for comment.
