D.C. police records show that on the date he referenced — Jan. 25, 2024 — there was one report of a shooting with one victim: 31-year-old Malik Gliss , who was found dead of gunshot wounds in a Southeast Washington apartment.

The president and D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser had a rough relationship during Trump ’s first term.

Trump has said homeless people should be moved to cheap land on the outskirts of cities and given “high-quality tents” and services.

A citywide count in early 2024 found 5,616 people were homeless; 900 were unsheltered.
