Remains of hundreds of buildings, cellars, streets, latrines, and everyday objects from 400 years ago were discovered from two years of archaeological investigations at central Kalmar .

The excavations were conducted by the city and Kalmar Water to renew and expand water and sewage pipes which could affect the remains of medieval buildings.

A total of 30,000 objects were found and it was unusual for such large areas to be investigated in the middle of a city with huge results.
