Calgary city council voted 9 -5 on Tuesday to work with the Alberta government to advance the Green Line project.

The vote confirmed the province’s proposal for an elevated track along 10th Avenue S.E. and 2nd Street S.W. The functional study will look at the future train's impact on traffic flow, noise, vibration, flooding and property valuations.

Of a dozen businesses contacted by Postmedia , every one said they are against the idea of a Green Line overhead.

Jyoti Gondek voted against the plan Tuesday , criticizing the province for forcing the city to go along with a “whimsical vision of an elevated train hammering through downtown” She doubled down Thursday , telling reporters the city will carry all the legal and financial risk if construction downtown does move forward.
