How the Japanese reinvented the F-16... and made it better!
66% Informative
War Thunder is the most comprehensive free vehicle combat game ever made.
From biplanes into war tanks to battleships, jet fighters to modern main battle tanks, you can select over 2500 playable vehicles.
And the best part of all of this is to play with me this weekend and 70 million other players in epic PvP competitions.
The Mitsubishi F2 was designed to be a support fighter and not a multi role fighter.
The F2 is optimized for low level flight anti ship missions because that's where the biggest threat to Japan lies.
It was never intended for seed missions for example, and it can't carry AGM 88 HARM missiles.
Due to the Japanese constitution, it was banned from using stand off weapons such as cruise missiles.
But that hasn't stopped it performing one of the most interesting roles in aviation.
Only 94 Viper Zero aircraft were built with a production split 6040 between Japan and the US .
Japan ended up buying the F35 instead for their new fighter.
