Conveyor proposed a three stage plan to test the public to flying supersonic transport.
The B58 -9 would be able to fly at Mach 2.4 for 2525 nautical miles .
The first of four jets would start testing with conveyor models being handed out to the FAA , NASA and the US Air Force for operational shakedowns.
Conveyor 58-9 was a supersonic transport plane that was designed to fly at Mac 2.4 instead of the high speed Blackbird .
The government was being tempted by newer and flashier designs like the Boeing 2707 or it's Lockheed counterpart, the L2000 that could carry more passengers and go even further.
Conveyors were also proposed to be refitted into a passenger plane called the MAC3 SST.
Convert SST could carry 135 passengers in A3-2 configuration to a range of around 4000 nautical miles .
A prototype expected to fly by 1967 and service to begin in 1970 with 145 aircraft at a cool $14.1 million each.
But the combined opposition to supersonic booms and the lack of government funding not only ended conveyors aspirations.
