Jessica Matthews was 21 when she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

She said the diagnosis led to her being turned down for life insurance and mistreated in hospital.

She is now waiting for an assessment for an autism assessment.

Some people say the diagnosis can be a route to treatment and understanding but others say it has led to stigma.

Jess complained about her treatment to her local health board in 2017 which has since changed names and boundaries.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg , who are now responsible for Jess ' care, said: "We have worked closely with Jessica to learn from her experiences" Swansea Bay University , formerly ABMU health board, said it will not comment on individual cases.

Welsh Government said it recently consulted on draft Mental Health and Well-being Strategy.
