Hikers beware: Icy, slippery conditions on North Shore mountain trails

54% Informative
North Shore Rescue teams responded to a call for three stranded hikers off the southeast corner of Pump Peak in the Seymour backcountry.
All three were wearing trail crampon-type devices on their shoes but given the current snowpack conditions, they were inadequate for the off-trail environment and the steepness of the location.
The current North Shore snowpack is hard and icy, thanks to this long stretch of clear weather.
