What Is the Paris Climate Agreement, and Why Does Trump Want to Pull the U.S. Out of It?
75% Informative
President Donald Trump has withdrawn the United States from the Paris Agreement , the landmark international climate accords .
The Paris Agreement is an international agreement that was brokered in 2015 at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change , or COP21, in Paris .
The accords sought to limit the rise in global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and keep them “well below” 2 degrees Celsius .
Climate activists suggest the U.S. share should be about four times higher as a result of its proportion of global carbon emissions.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said, “If you don’t believe in science, believe your own damn eyes” The European Commission president said the Paris Agreement continues to be the best hope for all humanity.
