Vancouver, FIFA drop public park in favour of UBC for World Cup 26

73% Informative
The FIFA World Cup 26 committee has moved a training site from a popular east Vancouver park to the University of B.C. campus.
The National Soccer Development Centre at UBC’s Point Grey campus will act as a team base camp and training facility for the upcoming World Cup .
Many neighbourhood park users were outraged when it was announced last July that Memorial South would be closed to the public for 1 years for construction to upgrade the community gathering place temporarily into a FIFA training site.
