Halton Regional Police say the investigation dubbed Project Thriller was launched in November 2024 into two suspected drug traffickers using rental vehicles and operating in the GTA.
A search warrant was executed on Jan. 13 at a Thorold home and both suspects were located inside the residence and arrested.
Police also executed a search warrant at a storage locker in Beamsville and on two vehicles.
Owen Ewald , 21 , of Kitchener , faces eight drug-related charges, three weapons charges, and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and driving while under suspension.
Richard Stevens , 47 , of Niagara Falls , was arrested about four hours later and charged with first -degree murder.
The victim’s body was found around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 in the area of Forkes Rd . and Hwy. 140 in a grassy area off the roadway.
