The E3 Century is a modified Boeing 7 O 7 and the version the Air Force flies still uses the original Seven O 7 fuselage and engines.
It's capable of detecting targets from the surface of the Earth all the way up into the stratosphere, and provides a 360 radar picture that can be shared instantly with fighter jets, ships, or other nearby control centers.
Senior Airman Shakur May is a crew chief for the AWACS E3.
He was given a tour of the base and crew equipment.
He also got a look at the Viking suit worn by the crew in the E3 whenever they're flying in an Arctic environment or over water.
Air Force E3 has directing traffic from the air to the battlefield providing an incredible legacy.
Despite its age, it's still quite capable and what it can actually do.
