The Santa Ana winds are forecast to continue into the next week , and that could fuel some of the blazes.
FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell : I'm concerned for the safety of our firefighters, concerned for their ability to contain this fire.
He says the area was very prepared, but they have never seen 100 mile an hour winds that are fueling the fire.
FEMA chief: Without insurance, families are going to have to find other means to be able to rebuild.
FEMA doesn't have good estimates on the cost of this disaster, but estimates range from $60 to $130 billion .
FEMA is working with Governor Stein in North Carolina to get debris removal out of their homes.
Administrator Criswell: "It's really unfortunate that we had to do that right because the misinformation was creating these harassing environments for our staff" "We do- it is not like what we saw, you know, during those initial days in North Carolina , but we've put measures in place".
