•Complaints against police officers in fatal hotel shooting dismissed by appeal board
73% Informative
Anthony Heffernan , 27 , was shot and killed by Calgary police officers in a hotel room in March 2015 .
Calgary police Chief Mark Neufeld dismissed two of the allegations against the officers.
The Law Enforcement Review Board ruled the decision was reasonable and the investigation into the allegations was done properly.
The family also argued the officers had time to collude on their stories following the incident.
The Heffernans say they expect their appeal to be dismissed, calling it part of a pattern of unaccountability in a case that’s stretched over nearly a decade .
“We pointed out many, many different (flaws and inconsistencies) but they’ve had no intention of holding these people accountable,” Patrick Hefernan says.
