Kris Knoblauch has figured out a goalie rotation that works for his Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton Oilers netminders Stu Skinner and Calvin Pickard were in a spot of bother in the first quarter of the season .

The netminding has stablilized, especially Skinner who has already regressed (in a good way) back toward the mean, and strongly so.

Coach Kris Knoblauch continues to use his tandem exactly as he has all season.

Stu Skinner has started 15 games against teams currently in a playoff spot, Pickard just 2 .

Skinner has played 6 of 6 games against the 9th and 10th place clubs of the two conferences, whereas Pickard has played 7 of 9 games vs. teams ranked 13th-16th on one side or the other.

The Oilers have averaged scoring 3.2 goals per game with each man in the net.

The big questions around Oilers ’ goalie will only be answered in May and (one hopes) June .

That he is facing such teams disproportionately is certain to have a deleterious effect on his percentages.

But as of now, things are trending up, up and up.

Ultimately, as with any position the big questions are still unanswered.
