The city offered to return the bricks used in the construction of the Plaza back to its original purchasers, or those with ties to them, in the wake of the building’s transformation project.
It was a reversal response following the public outcry to the initial announcement that artifacts could not be salvaged due to age and condition.
The city received around 8,000 requests for bricks, around a quarter of the 33,000 total on the Plaza .
