63% Informative
The annual New Year’s Levee hosted by the HMCS Tecumseh in southwest Calgary was previously limited to military personnel.
Officials decided to invite members of the public this year as a way to build connections with Calgarians and raise awareness about the role of Calgary 's naval reserve division.
The levee originated with King Louis XIV's practice of welcoming his closest people in his bedchamber after waking, according to an HMCS news release.
