But scientists say the cute features condemn these cats to a life of near-constant pain.
The genes which give the Scottish Fold its unique look also cause defective cartilage formation leading to crippling pain when they run, jump, or play - leaving many almost unable to move.
A new report by the Animal Welfare Committee ( AWC ) has called for a ban on the breed.

This is a product of an anosteochondrodysplasia mutation that changes the way their cartilage forms and gives Scottish Fold cats their characteristic folded ears.
All members of this breed carry a gene which leads to debilitating health conditions including arthritis.
