Dr. Francis Collins is the former director of the National Institutes of Health and an evangelical Christian .
He says science takes on a whole new wonderful kind of aspect because you’re exploring God’s creation.
“When you discover something that no human knew before, God knew that,” he said.
Collins: Misinformation and distrust chipped away at public buy-in of vaccines.
“I don’t know that we’ve come to grips with how that happened and what we might do to keep it from happening again,” he says.
Collins: Our future depends on the restoration of trust in science and public trust.
“Science is a critical part of how we make progress, and to the extent that people are less and less likely to trust it to help them flourish,” Collins said.
“I think it also is a call to action for all of us to begin to reanchor ourselves in truth and science and faith and trust," he said.
