Peter Wang is launching a new fund to support experimental projects built on the Bluesky/AT Protocol ecosystem.
The fund, Skyseed , was launched in mid-November with an initial commitment of $1 million .
Wang is co-founder, chief AI and innovation officer, and former CEO of Anaconda , a company built upon the eponymous Python and R distribution that helps data scientists build, test, and deploy all their data-driven projects.
The AT Protocol allows niche and micro-networks built on the same underlying framework.
Skyseed will operate as an incubator for like-minded people to bounce ideas off each other, with a view toward collaboration.
In the few days following the launch, Wang says he had in the region of 50 projects come in.
Bluesky, controllers of not only its own app but also the underlying open source protocol, is a privately held company with the usual array of VC backers.
There is plenty of scope for things to go sideways, both at Bluesky and the protocol on which it’s built.
