•Bell: Calgary top cop needs 200 more officers fighting city crime
64% Informative
Calgary police Chief Mark Neufeld says the city needs a couple hundred more officers.
The number of cops for the population is below the average in Canada .
The province is cutting back on photo radar in a major way.
The police chief says there may have been changes needed to tweak photo radar guidelines.
The photo radar shortfall is $15 million a year but Neufeld still maintains it is not about the dough and he says there’s been no discussion at Calgary police HQ about such things as setting the photo radar to go off at a lower speed above the posted limit. “In my time here there has never been a conversation at the end of the year with budgets saying we should reduce trigger speeds, we should put out more shifts, we should buy more equipment. Never.”.
