Confirmed case of measles in Calgary prompts alert for potential exposures

An individual with lab-confirmed measles, which was acquired internationally, has travelled to certain places in the city while infectious.

The health-care agency released locations and specified dates and times when people may have been exposed to the infection.

Measles is an extremely contagious disease and is spread easily through the air and in indoor spaces.

It is also a serious disease that can cause several complications, including ear infections, diarrhea, pneumonia, blindness, respiratory failure and even death.
