Rod Blagojevich said the "weaponization" of the federal government dates back to 2008 , when he was indicted on charges of corruption.

The former governor of Illinois was convicted of 17 felony counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy and attempted extortion.

Trump has spent most of his political career asserting that the Department of Justice was being weaponized against him.

Since he was released from prison nearly five years ago he has become a strong supporter of Trump .

Blagojevich believes he and President Trump are on the same side.

The disgraced Democrat thinks Trump has the opportunity to "go down history as one of our greatest presidents" "Their job is to do justice and to go after real crimes and to stay out politics," he said.
