The last time I set foot on this frozen beaver pond, I broke through the ice not just once but twice, a potentially life-threatening situation I was lucky to get out of.
But this time, I was way more careful, way more cautious and steered well away from any places with clear ice.
The water in beaver ponds is constantly changing because, though the dams these industrious rodents build slow the movement.
Sibbald Creek , the meadow where it meets Jumpingpound was all amber grass and upstream from there, the water was still flowing nearly ice-free.
But seeing that flowing water made me wonder if my favourite little waterfall might still have some flowing water, too.
I was happy to find one stretch of ice had formed and preserved the pattern of air trapped below it where the flow wrapped around a couple of bigger rocks.
Sorry, but I have to say this. It really had been an ice day . Yeah, definitely time to head on home..
