•Philippa Boyens on Her Crucial Role in Making the New Lord of the Rings Film
54% Informative
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is coming out this weekend .
Philippa Boyens was a producer and writer for the animated film.
She says she had no idea how to make the film work as an anime or blockbusters.
Boyens: "We had no concept of like blockbusters or anything like that at all".
Not really. I don’t think anyone would have dared to try and pitch us a story.
The biggest, most epic battle happens at the end of the first act . And then the story becomes, in a funny kind of way, more intense and closes in on itself. And that started to remind me of like a Miyazaki film, especially the character at the heart of it, Helm .
Howard Shore’s score, I think he would have 100 percent approved of that. Howard Shoreâs score is perfect. Ian McKellen's Gandalf is perfect.
I don’t see any rivalry between the two teams, says Boyens .
Miranda Otto as Eowyn is a much more personal voice-over than you would normally get sometimes in voice-overs.
