•Poker Cheaters Allegedly Use Tiny Hidden Cameras to Spot Dealt Cards
80% Informative
Poker pro Matt Berkey was playing in a well-known casino poker room over the summer .
Berkey noticed that a suspicious player never seemed to lose on the river.
He also noticed that the player always seemed to sit in the seats directly to the dealer, even across multiple days and playing sessions.
This form of cheating is now a known concern to high-stakes players everywhere.
French police arrested two suspected poker players at a major casino in Enghien -les-Bains.
Police say they used devices to capture card faces as they were dealt from the shoe.
The players had modified existing smartphone cameras with mirrors, allowing them to capture footage on a phone’s camera sensor laterally, while the phone was in a flat position.
Police say the suspects in France allegedly used separate devices for capture and transmission.
An entire industry of earpieces appears to exist for exam cheating purposes, from tiny Bluetooth earpieces that connect to a phone to setups contained within glasses and pens.
Some Vegas casinos, per multiple sources, have begun banning phones from being set down at felt level on tables.
