75% Informative
The summer festival, launched in 2020 , features street activities, shows, parades and events.
It also features downtown road closures and lost parking.
Councillors in favour argued it’s a great opportunity to attract tourists and for residents to socialize with their families.
But opponents argued the closed streets and lack of parking does too much damage to some businesses.
Prue, Crain , MacArthur , MacArthur and Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb supported the motion to maintain the festival in its current format.
Allaire and Pouget were opposed.
Survey of businesses also showed strong festival support among 49 respondents.
