How close is Toyota's LQ electric car to being production ready?

Major automakers like Toyota and GM were making big claims about how their transition to solid-state batteries would finally allow them to make a high volume of electric cars with amazing range and super fast charging.

Other battery makers like Tesla and CATL have been working on refining and optimizing the conventional lithium ion battery cell.

Toyota unveiled a concept car that they named the LQA , futuristic pod shaped electric vehicle that they claimed would be powered entirely by solid state batteries.

Solid-state batteries replace the liquid with a solid electrolyte layer that conducts the ions while insulating from the electrons and forcing them out through the circuit.

The jury is still divided on what exactly that material should be.

It would allow you to make a tiny pod shaped car like the LQ with as much range or more than a big sedan like the Tesla Model S or Lucid Air.

Tesla is working on the 4680 battery pack that could be ready for production in the next few years .

The company is focusing on how to use what we have available today and figure out how to manufacture that as quickly as possible.

Tesla isn't wasting any effort chasing the dragon of some magic new battery with the new battery.
