Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen said the province aims to shift from a focus on revenue back to traffic safety.

The orders come into effect in April and will prohibit the use of photo radar on all numbered provincial highways.

The new measures also include limiting intersection cameras to just red light violations.

Municipalities will be able to request additional photo radar sites, but approval will be based on proof enforcement is needed.
