U.S. President Donald Trump has a point when it comes to the shared border, says professor Lydia Miljan .

Trump announced Monday he’ll slap a 25 per cent tariff on all goods coming from Canada and Mexico .

Miljan expects tariffs will also be used to force Canada to meet its NATO defence spending commitments.

Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce interim CEO Tony Haddad said tariffs won’t resolve border security issues, but they will create economic chaos.

Trade of $3.6 billion per day with the Americans and $1 billion alone of that comes from Ontario .

Trade expert Miljan Miljan said Trump is showing he plans to not only shift the economic goalposts in favour of the U.S. Miljans said he also intends to use the tariff threat to influence policy changes.
