Trokon Dousuah took part in a charity mixed martial arts event in Edmonton , Alberta .
The 33-year-old died in hospital on Monday after suffering a ruptured kidney in the fight.
His training partner, Natalija Rajkovic , says she believes he wasn’t ready to fight.
She says she had no idea why he was cleared to fight at all because he suffered from asthma.
One fighter was scheduled to fight on the card but didn't start to spar until the week before the fight.
Neither of the amateur fighters were wearing head gear, oversized gloves and shin guards, which is mandatory at the amateur level.
Both Ford and Rajkovic believe Ultra MMA and those involved with putting the event on should be held responsible for Dousuah ’s death.
