•Sub-Saharan Africa leads global HIV decline: Progress made but UNAIDS 2030 goals hang in balance, new IHME study finds
85% Informative
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) published a new study in The Lancet HIV journal that revealed significant progress in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
Sub-Saharan Africa leads the world in cutting new HIV infections and deaths from the disease.
Despite this progress, researchers found regional variation in the HIV response and forecast the world is not on track to meet UNAIDS 2030 targets.
New cases of HIV, and deaths associated with the disease, are expected to continue to decrease globally.
