Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is leading the nation in oil and gas production, wind farms and solar farms.
Gov. Abbott : "We will ensure Texas remains a leader in energy and strengthen the Texas grid to meet the demands of our growing state" Texas is experiencing increased strain on its electric grid as it accommodates a growing population, more manufacturing and electrification.
Abbott -formed working group also suggested creating a non-regulatory entity to coordinate the state's nuclear efforts.
Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick have already said the legislature should appropriate an additional $5 billion to the Texas Energy Fund to incentivize more gas-fired generation.
The next legislative session begins Jan. 14 .
