•‘Race,’ ‘equity’ removed from UNT course titles to comply with Texas DEI ban, faculty say

University of North Texas has made 78 changes to its courses to comply with the state’s DEI ban.
The ban bans diversity, equity and inclusion offices and programs from public colleges and universities.
Faculty members fear the law is leading to censorship of classes despite exemptions for course instruction and research.
UNT spokeswoman says the changes are not related to the law.
The DMN Education Lab deepens the coverage and conversation about urgent education issues.
It is a community-funded journalism initiative, with support from the Dallas Morning News .
The class explores how such topics are covered in news media, television, advertisement and entertainment.
“It’s a really important class. When I talk to journalists, they wish they had a class like that,” she said.
